New Electricity Source for Naperville
Looking forward to Naperville moving on to a new power source? Beginning June 1 of this year, Naperville will start receiving their power from the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA). By choosing the IMEA as the city's power source, residents and businesses will have the convenience of stabilized electric rates. Traditional flat and fixed rates will remain, and time of usage rates will also be introduced with other brand new programs as part of the Naperville Smart Grid Initiative (NSGI). With these options, people can choose the rate option that will best fit their unique needs. As a municipally owned utility, instead of investor-owned, the electric rates are generally lower. This new plan is aimed at optimizing the distribution and use of electricity, by doing so, this will help ensure that energy costs remain low for years to come. For more information about this cost saving effort, visit Naperville's website.
